The Rotary AutoVise™ is a pneumatic 5th axis vise built for CNC shops running 4th- and 5th-axis rotary platters. Also called a 5 axis vise or rotary vise. Where traditional manual 5th axis vises require a wrench and torque handle to clamp, the Rotary AutoVise clamps and releases on shop air. One M-code. One solenoid. No operator involvement.
Each Rotary AutoVise pairs a self-centering 75mm or 100mm AutoVise Pro™ with an integrated base-plate that passes air lines straight through the center bore of your rotary. Drop-in compatible with Haas Air Vise Ready Provision kits. Pair with an AxisAir™ Rotary Union for continuous rotation without tangling air lines.
Manual 5th axis vices, even the good ones, burn 30 to 60 seconds per load cycle. Torquing the handle, checking clamp force, indicating the part after every setup. A 4th axis vise mounts on a single-axis rotary table for wrap-around, indexed, or clocking work: shaft features, side-holes, and blank prep. A 5 axis vise mounts on a trunnion or tilt-rotary for full simultaneous 5-axis machining: contoured surfaces, undercuts, and near-net blank access from every side. Both Rotary AutoVises work on either setup. Need true 5-sided access on a 4th axis rotary? The AxisMount™ 90° Trunnion Module adds tilt to any TRT-style base.
Standard air vises fail on rotaries because the air line tangles the moment the platter turns. The Rotary AutoVise routes pneumatics straight through the center of the base-plate, through your rotary's spindle bore, and out to an AxisAir™ Rotary Union, giving you infinite rotation with no snagged tubes. Base plates ship with 1.500" and 2.000" centering pucks, sized for standard 4th and 5th axis rotary platters.
Both Rotary AutoVise base plates are drop-in compatible with Haas Air Vise Ready Provision kits. No adapter, no re-fixturing. If you're running a Haas HRT, TRT, or A6 rotary that's already plumbed for pneumatic vises, connect the air line and go. Not on a Haas machine? Any rotary with a 1.500" or 2.000" pilot works the same way. Pair with our MCodeAir™ Solenoid Kit for machine-controlled clamping on Fanuc, Brother, Doosan, Hurco, or DMG Mori.
A rotary vise mounts to a rotating platter: either a 4th axis rotary table or a 5th axis trunnion. "5th axis vise" specifically refers to a vise designed for the clearance and clamping demands of full 5-axis machining: low profile, tool access from every side, minimal footprint. Most rotary vises get used as 5th axis vises, but not every 5th axis vise is rotary. Some sit on fixed sub-plates for tilt-only setups.
Yes. Both the 75mm and 100mm Rotary AutoVises are compatible with Haas HRT, TRT, and A6 rotaries. If your machine has Air Vise Ready Provision plumbing, no adapter is needed. Bolt on and connect a single air line.
Only if your rotary spins more than 360° in one direction or runs continuous rotation. For indexed or reversing motion under 360°, a standard air hose loop works fine. For infinite rotation, our AxisAir™ Rotary Union passes air through the rotating platter without tangling.
Same self-centering pneumatic mechanism. The 75mm Rotary AutoVise holds parts up to 3" wide with a compact footprint. Ideal for aluminum brackets, small housings, and tight rotary trunnions. The 100mm Rotary AutoVise holds parts up to 4" wide with higher clamping force. Better for steel work, larger blanks, and heavier machining loads.
Manual 5 axis vises require torquing a handle to clamp each part. That's 30 seconds per cycle if the operator is fast. A pneumatic 5 axis vice like the Rotary AutoVise clamps in under a second on shop air, with repeatable clamping force set by your regulator instead of by operator feel.
